The only flight out to South America from Auckland is to Santiago de Chile. So on the 17th of April at 18:00 New Zealand Time we took off only to arrive in Santiago on the 17th of April at 2pm.

How is that possible?

--> We crossed the international date line.

As our connecting flight to Buenos Aires only left in the morning of the next day we took a bus into the city and checked into a cheap hotel. the rest of the day we spent sleeping - the time difference or in fact the won time confused us (or at least our bodies) too much!

in the evening we got out of bed to look for a restaurant. A task that seemed to be quite difficult in santiago:
there are fast food chains and cheap snackbars on every corner but we couldnt spot a single nice restaurant. as we found out later santiago is famous for having a not-existing dining out scene...so we ended up at mcdonalds!

the next day we flew to buenos aires, our first stop in argentina.
