Marc & Nora ROUND THE WORLD 2005/2006 - Join us!
The South Island: Christchurch
Marc writes>
After a few rainy days in Kaikoura we headed South to Christchurch where we checked ourselves into campsite so we could go and check out the city (and to get a wash......a increasingly seldom activity these days for us both!!)
As it was quite late in the day we just a had a general wander around the city centre which is nothing to blow you away. We did make our way down to the Arts Centre which is a really nice old complex of Victorian University buildings which are now converted into a arts and crafts and food and drink market which is held at weekends...and weekend it was. We then a had look in the Museum of New Zealand which was quite nice considering it was for free (donation = free doesn't it?) Then after a quick walk through the botanical gardens our time in Christchurch was over apart from another night in the back of a car of course...
on the thinnest matress in the world which sits atop a comfy piece of plywood. Oh yeah and this was the coldest night ever! It must have been below 0´C in the back of that bloody station wagon...
oh how we live in the lap of luxury on this trip!!!
After a lazy start to the next day we jumped into car/bedroom/lounge and started our journey towards the NZ Southern Alps and to Mount Cook.
