Marc & Nora ROUND THE WORLD 2005/2006 - Join us!
Australia - Down under: Airlie Beach - Whitsundays Sailing Trip
We set off the next day up to Airlie Beach...the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. We met up with Kat & Eleanor and booked a 4 day/3 night sailing trip around the Islands for a bargain price. We had a fun 4 days of cruising, sailing, diving, snorkelling around these beautiful islands despite being on board what was probably the shittiest boat in the pacific.....bed bugs, leaks'n'all! (Hence the 'Bargain' price). However for the 1st time on our trip Nora and I were not actually the ones to receive the bad luck as we had the only non-leaking cabin on the boat and managed to remain bed bug free for the duration of the trip....bonus! We had one day of sunshine followed by 2 full days of grey skies and rain but we still got to see the famous whitehaven beach in all of its glory. Overall though we had a good time and were lucky enough to have a cool group of 21 other people on board including Helen the maddest, most shagged, most tattooed Swedish girl currently travelling the Southern Hemisphere. As you might have guessed from the description...she was actually lots of fun!
due to the fact that we are in the stinger season (the deadly box jelly fish and irukandji are around) we got full protection from the beautiful 'ninja style' stingersuit provided by the boat company. hoods, socks, gloves - everything you could think of... and thats how we looked!
