Marc & Nora ROUND THE WORLD 2005/2006 - Join us!
New Zealand: Rotorua (North Island)
Our first stop after Auckland was Roturua, famous for its hot springs but a very smelly town due to the sulphur. We met up with Louise and Dave who were on their way back to Auckland.
We visited the Roturua Park with its hot springs and mud pools and also went to the Polynesian spa, which has different temperature pools.

We planned to spend 2/3 of our NZ-stay on the South island and 1/3 on the North Island.
After Roturua we headed south to lake taupo to do the Tongariro Crossing (a volcanic national park) but the trek was closed for the next 2 days due to heavy rainfalls.
As our time was limited we decided to head to the South Island right away, spend 2,5 weeks there and then come back to the North Island for our remaining 1,5 weeks (and try to do the crossing then)
