Marc & Nora ROUND THE WORLD 2005/2006 - Join us!
EASTERN CANADA
This part of our trip was not part of our round the world ticket but nevertheless planned from beginning on.
Gisela, a friend from school still works as a flight attendant for Austrian Airlines and agreed to fly us to Canada on a standby basis (if seats are available we get on the flight for a ridiculous low fare - 80 euros return, if the flight is full tough sh**.)
Everything went well - with the seniority of Gisi (7 years with the company) we got 2 seats next to each other and enjoyed a fantastic service!
Unfortunately we could only fly to Toronto as Austrian Airlines cancelled all of their Montreal flights a few months earlier. After a night in Toronto we took a rental car and drove 6 hours to Montreal.
Traveller Tip: Holiday Autos is a really good and cheap car rental company - in fact they act as a middleman and book from a range of car rental companies such as alamo, budget etc.
The rented car comes with an automatic full insurance (fully comprehensive with NO EXCESS) and most of the time there is no one-way surcharge. So for 39 Euros including tax we had a car for 24 hours. Not bad!
