Cross Country Road Trip- USA
Grand Canyon, Arizona
Driving in the wee hours of the morning had its advantages. For one, it was easy to go at neck-breaking speed since no one (besides us and the few truckers) were on the roads.
At around 5am, since neither Jen nor I slept the previous night, we slowed to a halt and realized we would need to get some shut-eye. Since we were on a budget and were too lazy to look for any cheap motels, we decided our first night's stop would be at Love's .
We woke around 7am and drove the remaining 3 hours until we reached The Grand Canyon.
Along the way, we saw an interesting little town called, Seligman. We decided to stop by for a brief visit.
After our pit stop at Seligman, we FINALLY arrive into The Grand Canyon around 3pm.
But first, we are starving so we decide to grab something to eat and hang around to buy some souvenirs. The souvenir stand didn't have the travel pins I was looking for but the lady told me that a general store down the street would have them.
After passing the slow cars on a one-lane highway, we finally see the entrance to the canyon.
After our little excursion in the canyons, we drove back down and hung out at the Flintstone's Campground. Since we were left no choice but to buy the weekly entrance pass into the Canyons for $25, but only had a day to stay, we didn't feel like giving up our money that quickly. So the search for a potential buyer only made sense. We asked around and to our slackers' annoyance, apparently most people are planners, and already had their passes in advance. But, we weren't ready to be defeated that quickly. Finally, at this campground, we came across a family of procrastinators, proposed our plan to them, and earned ourselves $14 extra more dollars for gas. Sweet!
