Thailand

Travel time: December 2006 - January 2007  |  by Christina E.

Back to Los Angeles...

January 2, 2007:

We are bummed, and a little excited to leave. Something about the hustle-and-bustle of Thailand just makes you yearn for the comforts of home. Of course having said that, once we returned, we couldn't wait to visit Thailand again!

Nan and Wynn were nice enough to take us to the airport. The flight back wasn't too bad since this time around, we actually got the new Boeing planes equipped with 20 movie selections, games, and CD albums-- all on touchscreens!

After popping some Benadryl, I knocked out for the remainder of the flight. At our short layover in Taipei, I went to inquire if anyone had turned in the camera bag that I lost. To my surprise and delight, someone turned it in! It had all my memory cards, charger, and battery intact! That totally made my day.

Since we each had about 800 baht left between the both of us, we used it all at the airport, mainly on food!

When I returned home, I was shocked to see that I had gained 12 pounds! I was thinking there is no way I could've gained THAT much weight. Well, after the swelling went down 2 days later, I realized that I had retained so much water my entire feet, calves, and legs were swollen making up all the excess weight. Whew, I was relieved!

My swollen feet, calves and ankles-- you can't even tell I have ankles!

I'm glad we made it safely back and aside from the horrible jet-lag, nothing seems to be amiss. We definitely miss being in Thailand and looking forward to seeing/doing something new everyday. Of course, now that I'm back here in California, I've nothing to look forward to but work and responsibilities. That is the American dream, ain't it?

Thanks for reading all the way through. We hope you caught a glimpse of Thailand through the eyes of two foreigners abroad. Stay tuned for more stories and travels to come...
