Thailand
Phi Phi Don
Christmas Day- Christi writes:
Towards 1pm, we head over to Phi Phi Don to dock the boats and have lunch. They serve us a light lunch of fried fish, onion rings, veggies, tom yum goong (extremely spicy here in Thailand by the way!), spaghetti and of course, rice. After lunch, H and I walked around the island and went to look at the shops, souvenir stands, and things the island had to offer. From what I can deduce, not many local Thais live here. Aside from the few Thais that own businesses and a few of the local European divers that have set up diving shops, the town mostly caters to tourists.
Two of the Scottish guys that rode on the same boat as us (the two guys in the picture above), as we picked them up from their hotel earlier this morning, both walked out with a Thai prostitute. How did we know she was a Thai hooker? Well, first of all, she walked out of their 5-star resort with them, then they both took turns kissing her on the lips before hopping into our A/C van while she hopped onto a tuk tuk going the opposite direction. I just can't believe that the men here are so blatant about that type of behavior. I guess there's no need to hide the fact that you just spent the previous night with a paid woman, especially to a group of people you don't know, or don't really care to know. Anyhow, not that I think its a big deal or anything like that, just that if I was a male that happened to have spent the night employing sex, I'd at least have the prostitute leave 5 minutes before the van with the bunch of people I'd be spending the whole day with showed up. But, that's just me.
A word about mannequins:
The mannequins in Los Angeles have ghetto booties, the mannequins in Peru, HUGE racks. Here in Thailand, they were just disturbing, bordering a close resemblance to blow up dolls. Hmm, maybe its intentional...
