We have never been happier to leave Krabi! Not that we don't love it, it's absolutely amazing here! I think the obstacles of us trying to leave the island became so overwhelming, that we couldn't wait to get off! If that makes sense. Anyhow, this morning, I picked up my laundry (my laundry of 1 shirt and 2 pairs of pants-- 'fluff and fold' service was so cheap I couldn't resist!), had breakfast then H and I hit up the shores of Ao Nang one last time, saw this guy doing the strangest form of yoga ever (we think he made up all the moves on his own), before going into a nail salon where I got a mani-pedi for just $10!
After that, H and I went to have a late lunch, and right as we're about to leave for the airport, wouldn't you believe, it starts raining! There were no signs of any clouds that morning and rain on the island was the last thing I expected. I felt so sad as I saw all the people running in from the beach to take cover, especially since we had such great weather the past several days. Anyhow, not our problem-- we were leaving for Bangkok in 2 hours!
Smart H, noticed that people were gathering inside restaurants, shops, hotel lobbies trying to wait for the rain to die down (it didn't look like it was going to die down soon), and figured that taxis would start to get taken up. So, as soon as our meal was finished, he ran down the road to get us a taxi. He even got an umbrella to carry up to the restaurant as we took our stuff into the cab. What a smart babe.
As we're leaving for the airport, it starts to POUR (notice the guy across the street running in his Speedo?)
While at the airport, ready to board our 1 hr flight to Bangkok, H befriends a fellow traveler, a very nice guy--Tom--whom coincidentally, has just graduated UCLA and has also majored in Political Science. H has found his mini-me of 5 years ago.
According to Luchtzak Aviation, Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi (say that quickly 10x's) Airport is 'the most beautiful airport in the world'
Apparently, one of H's boxing buddies does business in Thailand all the time and got us a great company rate to stay at the luxurious 5-star serviced apartment suites at The Chin House in Bangkok for 2 nights! We were so impressed when we set foot into this building. First of all, we did not fit in, with our dirty backpacks and Teva sandals amongst the sea of Italian suits and Japanese businessmen. Second of all, we were the youngest ones there, or at least, youngest people not staying with our parents! But check out this sweet set-up we had...
We absolutely loved our 1-bedroom suite apartments and died when we couldn't have it for more than 2 days. Anyway, this is what's called living in the lap of luxury!
