Thailand
Bangkok (again)
Back into Bangkok we went, and headed straight for Chatuchak. Since it was already 1pm, we didn't have much time to see/buy everything we wanted. We actually came back again the following day to do more eating and shopping. If you plan on going to Chatuchak, I suggest going early to beat the crowds and devoting at least 1 whole day to seeing everything the place has to offer. It is that big!
...to 'penis-envy' t-shirts...
This guy was playing only two musical beats over and over...and over. Towards the end, we (and I'm sure many others) were annoyed
After Chatuchak, we take a taxi back to Nan's and we hang out at her in-law's family reunion for a bit before taking off to Lumphini Park to watch some 'Muay Thai' boxing.
But, we never get to watch 'Muay Thai'. Apparently, the ticket guy gives us the ever-so-popular 'tourist price'. Since H and I didn't have enough baht with us, and they love to charge the standard 3% rate for using credit cards here in Thailand, we didn't think it was worth it. However, once we walked away, he came chasing after us and telling us that he can actually "bring us to his manager, who will in fact, give us a better price". Ha! What's that saying? "Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice..."
Due to the 'Muay Thai' mishap, we got to hang out at Lumphini Park, and that turned out to be a lot more fun!
After dinner, we walk further along the crowded bazaar and I see a stray wandering around, looking for food. I offer him some of my leftover noodles (there was quite a bit left), and that thing refuses! Can you believe it? He's actually being picky! The dogs here probably prefers the rice dishes, anyhow.
After dinner, we decide to get a Thai massage. It was more like acupressure, rather than an actual massage. But I like that style more than H did. For a full hour, it was only around $8! That's such a good deal. Anyhow, H's masseuse did some really weird things, including a butt massage which I'm sure H didn't really enjoy. I loved mine though!
After the 'Big Wheel' ride, we walk into the food bazaar and it is packed with people everywhere eating, drinking beers, and enjoying a live band performance. H and I decided to give one of those fruit shakes a try, and they totally changed our lives! We couldn't stop drinking them for the rest of our stay in Bangkok.
