What can I say about Laos.
Laos is old
Laos is wonderful
Laos is cute
Laos is breathtakingly beautiful
Laos in the heart of Indochina is a wonderful country. One very close to my heart indeed. There is something eminently magical about the rugged north with its patchwork of ethnic tribes.

After having flown to Chiang Rai from Europe we took a taxi to Chiang Khong in order to cross the border to Laos. Of course once in North Thailand or Laos, one will do with what is available and in our case a boat to cross the great Mekong in order to arrive at border control in Laos.
Once arrived with all formailities sorted out, having travelled through the so called "golden Triangle on the Thai and Laos side" we were free to enter Laos.
The first border official took a look at me once having handed over my passport and decided to want one more dollar for the Laos Visa. Being blond is certainly possible in many European countries but once arrived in Laos, blond people are certainly Swedish.
I smiled and handed him the desired extra dollar, altough I am far off from being Swedish.
A second Lao border police official inspecting me, my blond hair and my passport, gave me all of a sudden a very warm smile, finding 2 Laos Visa in my passport. Second time in Laos, I smiled back. We had arrived in super cute Laos.
Staying at Arimid bungalows for the first night, having been served with our very first beer Laos and walking down to the Mekong in order to settle in a river restaurant for dinner.
It was wonderful to have arrived in Laos after having flown for nearly 2 days.
