Philippines: Puerto Galera
Puerto Galera and its beaches is about a 2 hours drive by bus and then a 2 hours ride by boat.
The usual way to move there is by "trike". It's a small motorbike with a sidecar. It's usually too small and you nearly break your back but it works and it's fun.
White Beach is a nice little beach with (too) many hotels, bungalows, bars and restaurants, but it's still a nice place to relax, enjoy the beach, have a great massage at the beach(3U$ for one hour) and a quiet drink if you avoid the techno bars in the center. Most of the bars are run by ladyboys or transvestites, but they are OK and they do a great job in entertaining you. Don't go there on weekends, it's too crowded. It seems that whole Manila goes there to enjoy the weekend and it's hard to find a place to sleep or a place at the beach. The prices rise to double or 3 times as high as on weekdays. But it's interesting and fun anyway.
Sabang is another famous beach there. There are a lot of restaurants and bars too, but for some reasons it has a special flair that I like. Most of the bungalows are nice and cheap and there is a 24 hour bar and restaurant right at the beach there everybody meet after all other places are closed and sometimes you end up there chatting until sunset. The only bad thing is that there's no good beach. There are three but all are small with rocks and corals and it's hard to find a place to swim. But it's a great place anyway.
