John's Around the World Adventure 2005/2006
Thailand: Bangkok
Bangkok was an amazing city to end my travels in Thailand. Crammed full of buildings, people and deadlocked cars spread across 12 lanes of motorway gives you an idea of the intensity. Add in the horrid smells and pollution, now you have Bangkok!
However, despite this, Bangkok had character. Very lively nightlife, excellent shopping (including many markets and state-of-the-art shopping malls)and pretty good accommodation (with a rooftop swimming pool) all helped contribute to Bangkok being an exiting City to spend a week or so!
We explored many of the iconic landmarks, things both to see and do in Bangkok by Ferry Boat,Longtail Boat, Bus, Tuk Tuk, On Foot, and using the excellent Skytrain option. Despite falling into the hands of the crafty touts on several occasions (getting ripped off is part of the Bangkok experience) i really did enjoy my time here.
After a few days of stifling heat however, we chose to head to the Pattaya beach (3 hours away) to relax for the day. Having said relax, we still found time to fit in a Parasail and Jet Ski Ride!!
