John's Around the World Adventure 2005/2006

Travel time: December 2005 - June 2006  |  by John Davies

Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur

We then crossed the border into southern Malaysia, stopping at Kuala Lumpur . We had mixed opinions of this city as we had anticipated somewhere modern and clean. We did find the modern though, amidst the grime and tat of its surroundings shone the amazing sight of the twin Petronas Towers, the second highest tower in the world, standing at 84 floors high. We were whisked half way up the tower to level 42, a viewing platform connecting the two towers, with amazing panoramic views.

The shopping centre and city park surrounding the complex was also impressive, something very much out of the future!

The trip

Description:
Following masses of preperation my trip of a lifetime was finally a reality. Beginning in the adventurous New Zealand, before taking in delights of Australia over Christmas. Bali was next on the agenda, trading in the comfort of the West for drastic cultural differences of East Asia. The modern city of Singapore next acted as a stepping stone for travel over-land through Malaysia and island-hopping around Thailand. My Adventure finally ended amongst the neon scyscrapers of Hong Kong.
