To Phitsanulok
Day 9 came after a crappy night's sleep on rock hard "mattresses". The condition was treated with large iced coffees chez 7-11 - these things are everywhere and are becoming frighteningly comforting. Maybe it's the A/C.
It's a six hour train ride North to Phitsanulok, or Phi-lok as the hip kids apparently refer to it.
The train really isn't so bad. This is the way to travel. There was plenty of room to stretch out on an increasingly deserted train.
There was a lot of greenery to stare vacantly at, too.
We arrived in PHI-LOK at dusk, much impressed by their glittery flashy lights, and checked into the London Hotel. Neither English, nor hotel like. Our guidebook described it as "cute as a button", i swear it.
Also, yet again the cheapest one we've been to. Only 150! I think we're scraping the bottom, though.
Our cell at "HOTEL LONDON". Witness the lizards, the roaches, the one inch think brick mattressm, the roaring motorcycles outside the window.. witness the comfort.
Day 10, we discover the curse of Phitsanulok. Finding breakfast is impossible, Catherine naps most of the day, i do laundry and finish my third book. Bought some things at the night market, including a belt for me... no sights seen, however, just didn't feel like it.
The alluring lights of the accursed city, PHI-LOK.
and the lovely river.. also cursed.
