3 Weeks Across Incredible India
Jaisalmer
Day 18 - 26. January 2009
The morning I woke up on the train and the landscape got more and more dry.
At about lunchtime I arrived in Jaisalmer and the host from Hotel Renuka picked me up at the train station free of charge. This was a very nice service. After arriving at Hotel Renuka I first had a good lunch in their rooftop Restaurant.
The afternoon I explored Jaisalmer Fort.
Jaisalmer Fort is very nice to see. I had no hassle with all tour vendors because I already booked a camel safari. In the small streets I met many cows and from the walls there is a nice view into the surrounding.
Day 19 - 27. January 2009
The morning I got up very early because my camel safari started. A jeep took us more far into the Thar desert. On the way we stopped at Bara Bagh Funeral.
After about 1 hour we arrived at the camel place and the camel safari started.
After some hours of camel riding we made a lunch stop. Our guide made very good chai tea and vegetarian curry.
In the afternoon we continued our safari until we stopped at a sand dune for watching the sunset.
Afterwards we had supper and spent the night under the stars in the desert outside.
Day 20 - 28. January 2009
I woke up very early and watched the sunrise while our guide was already preparing breakfast for us.
After breakfast we continued our camel safari for some more hours until we reached the jeep.
On the way back to Jaisalmer we made one stop at a temple.
In Jaisalmer Hotel Renuka allowed me to use shower again and after lunch I went to visit Maharaja's Palace. This is now a museum. An audioguide explained everything but I was short on time.
At afternoon I went to the train station to travel on to Jodhpur. This time I travelled on 2nd class sitting and it got more and more overcrowded. This was a real indian experience
