Chile - Bolivia 2006
San Pedro de Atacama
San Pedro de Atacama located in the middle of the desert is the starting point of many very interesting excursions. The village itself counts round 1,000 inhabitants and has a long, long story. It was first populated by the Indios, then conquered by the Inkas during the XVIth century before beeing conquered again, this time by the Spains. The signs of Pedro de Valdivia are to be seen also here. To resume: the story of San Pedro sounds familiar, its destiny isnĀ“t different than hundreds of Chilean villages. Today it is a charmful minuscule town with different architecture styles, various art places with refined taste
View of the mountain of the Pili (6046 m)
This church is one of the nicest of the entire region (first construction; XVIIth century). The truss is made of cactus wood.

The typical red stone / sand
We tried two Chilean specialities in San Pedro: the humitas and the pasta de chuclas, both made of mais and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS
Nice to stay around the fire, actually it was in a restaurant after trying "humidas"
Here are Guillaume and Bertrand. And they have to carry their small home 12 months long like that...
Pupils coming out of school in the middle of the afternoon
How about a trip to the Moon Valley this afternoon? It is only 40 degres and a 3.5 hours drive through the desert! But what a view there!
