Jess & Jude's Adventures in Thailand 2004
Still chillin' in Chiangmai
Saturday 12 June
More shopping.....
Slept in this morning, awoke at 8am. Jess and I had our usual at Starbucks then in for breakfast at the hotel. We grabbed a songthaew back to the Wororot Markets (20bt). Love these markets everything "wery cheap, cheap". We bought a large bag to carry all our loot back to Australia (240bt). Got some more gifts for the family (not telling).

We hopped a songthaew back to the hotel for a swim in the pool. Very refreshing after the heat at the markets. Unfortunately we have to check out from the Suriwongse Hotel today. Packed our gear, funny we seem to have a lot more than when we arrived. The new bag is very handy.

We checked out at noon and walked up the road to the Night Bazaar Place where we had booked for 5 nights. The room is great, good size, nice bathroom and we have a sort of view to Doi Sutep Mountain. Unpacked our bags again then down to Den Duang for emails as it is raining again. The temperature is very pleasant here with the rain.

We spent an hour on the internet then walked back to the Wororot Market grabbing some lunch on the way. Tried a few silk shops for some silk off cuts (special request for Mum). No luck I'm afraid but will keep trying.
We made our way towards the river and wandered through the flower market. The colours of the flowers were gorgeous and such a sweet smell pervaded the air. A little different to the seafood market around the corner!

We hopped a songthaew back to the hotel and decided to book our Elephant tour for tomorrow, hoping the weather will be better. It cost 850bt each and includes elephant show, 1hr elephant ride, ox cart ride, river rafting and a visit to the orchid and butterfly farm.
We had dinner at Den Duang, just can't beat their Thai food. I had a chicken and cashew dish that was divine washed down with a Singha beer. Jess had the most delicious homemade lemonade. We opted for an early night so we would be fresh for our tour tomorrow. Both in bed by 9pm.
